HEALING ECZEMA FROM THE INSIDE OUT.
While researching how to heal eczema naturally we found a lot of advice on healing from the inside, healing the gut.
If something wasn't right on the outside it meant something was going on inside. Fix that and you can help the problem.
So the gut healing diet began. We introduced, bone broth, probiotics and fermented vegetables to Lakyn's diet. Adding beneficial bacteria to override the bad.
The greatest thing about beneficial bacteria is it is found in natural yogurt and fermented foods, you may not even need to buy a supplement form. Raw organic yogurt (not commercial yogurt from the grocery store) is what we use daily.
As well as fermented vegetables. You can ferment virtually any food, and every traditional culture has fermented their foods to prevent spoilage. There are also many fermented beverages and yoghurts and each mouthful provides trillions of beneficial bacteria. ( far more than you can get from a probiotic supplement. ) You can buy fermented vegetables from the health store or make you own.
It is a good idea to limit or avoid sugar, grains and fruit juices as they will rapidly break down in the intestine and feed the bad bacteria, which effectively competitively inhibit the beneficial bacteria you are supplementing with making them useless and virtually ineffective.
These are great articles to read and explains a lot about Beneficial bacteria for gut health.
The broth from grass fed beef bones or organic chicken bones is extremely nutritious. Whilst slow cooking, the bones release minerals into the broth, making it optimal for health due to its high antioxidant, vitamin and essential mineral content. It is super easy to make and we now make Bone broth on a regular basis and add it to all family meals.
1. Gut health
Bone broth can assist in the healing of your gut. The gelatin in bone broth seals and heals the mucosal lining of the digestive tract and assists the digestion of nutrients.
Homemade bone broth is excellent for healing and recuperation from illness. Your grandparents have told you chicken soup will help a cold, well they are right. Chicken broth contains a natural amino acid called cysteine, which can thin the mucus in your lungs and make it less sticky so you can expel it more easily.
3. Bone growth and repair.
The calcium, magnesium and phosphorus in bone broth helps our bones to grow and repair.
4. Hair, skin and nails.
The collagen and gelatin in bone broth supports hair growth, skin regeneration and assists in keeping your nails strong.
5. Inflammation. Amino acids such as glycine, proline, and arginine all have anti-inflammatory effects.
The glucosamine in bone broth can actually stimulate the growth of new collagen, repair damaged joints and reduce pain and inflammation.
6. Promotes relaxation.
The amino acid glycine found in bone broth can be very calming, a great preparation for pre-sleep.
BONE BROTH RECIPE
. Organic beef bones or chicken (if not organic grass-fed)
. 2 Tbs Organic Apple cider vinegar
You can roast the bones quickly in a hot oven with salt and pepper or just throw them in the slow cooker or pot. Cover with water and add the Apple Cider vinegar
Leave to slow cook for up to 48 hrs the longer you leave the more taste and nutrients. You can add water if needed as it cooks.
Add fresh herbs and spices in the last 10 minutes.
Dried herbs and spices or spice powders can be added during the final hour.
Vegetables can be added according to their size, giving them enough time to cook.
When done, strain and let cool slightly and pour into glass jars or bowl, set in fridge. there will be a layer of fat which can be removed if desired or you can use. Store excess in freezer. I often use ice-cube trays so I can add little bits of bone broth goodness to little meals.
You can warm up and drink or add to meals/soups.
I hope you have enjoyed this post and will think about adding the goodness of bone broth and beneficial bacteria to your family snacks and meals.
